the GitHub page is (kinda) the docs, and i assume users will be developers and familiar with GitHub Issues, where they can post their, well, issues, or request moves, etc. if not, again if you have time i'd be curious to know your thoughts about the open source disappointment. if the open source issue is a fear of keylogs and the like, kV is notarized by Apple. but i may end up releasing it open source yes, if the business model doesn't work and i decide to stop taking requests and/or adapting it for other users. i plan kV to be a subscription of USD$3 a month.

personally i'm very happy (and proud) to give a couple of bucks a month to independent developers that make my day to day more pleasurable, and make me smile each time i use their products. and as far as i'm aware there's nothing close out there. why should it be? it's a year+ full time (7 days a week, half a day for clients to pay the bills). (probably as a result of the goal too: open source vs consumer product.)Ī good part of the tests are open source, so that people have a documentation of how Vim moves should behave if they're working on their own implementation.

the VimMode.spoon has definitely been an inspiration, but the end product is quite different. and last time i tried i think moves were lacking consistency and accuracy. it screws with my windows management, Visual Mode does not work properly, there's no count system, no block cursor. i don't know if you're using it or have tried it, but personally it doesn't work for me. I credit David Balatero on the kindaVim doc page (GitHub) as giving me the idea for kindaVim. i'm curious what's your definition of "better" in your comment? care to share more thoughts? it controls non UI Elements too, like dropdowns, lists, scrollbars, etc. no back and forth between an editor and your current focused app. you work on your current thing, enter Vim Mode, you're in. with kindaVim you don't need to open any other window. if you want deep integration with macOS, i doubt so. if you want the complete Vim, definitely. a few thoughts below regarding the accuracy of your comment:īetter is quite subjective.
